MONUMENTO AO PEDREIRO MONTANTE

The Monumento ao Pedreiro Montante represents a boy with a youthful expression with a smooth face and a soft texture, while the mason holding the hammer expresses a heavier and more marked expression, especially visible in the wrinkles developed with age.
This sculpture of tribute to the masons and other diferente construction professions was something common in the Portuguese statuary after the 25th of April of 1974. Usually, in different Portuguese cities, we can admire sculptures dedicated to fishermen, firemen, farmers, among other professions.
