PORTAS DA MAIA

A classical concept that resembles the Arch of Triumph in three volumes, which correspond to three fundamental pillars of Maia`s identity: religiousness, work and rural popular culture. It was inaugurated on May 17th 2003.

Even though most people relate "Portas da Maia" with this monument, the original ones are not these. The first monument with this name is not in the city centre. It is located in Rotunda do Laranjal.
